DAY ONE: Module A: “Patient Preparation”

  • Pre-procedure assessment
  • Ward assessment
  • Blood result analysis
  • Taking delegated consent
  • Patient check-in & monitoring

DAY ONE: Module B: “Procedure Preparation”

  • Preparation of the IR theatre for the safety of the patient
  • PPE & radiation protection
  • Scrubbing, aseptic technique and handling of sharps
  • Undertaking WHO “Time Out” pre & post procedure
  • Management of an IR procedure trolley

DAY TWO: Module C: “Patient Care”

  • Recognising a deteriorating patient (NEWS & escalation)
  • Analgesia & safe sedation
  • Post-procedure recovery & aftercare
  • Handover or discharge of patient

DAY TWO: Module D: “Procedural Skills”

  • Commonly performed IR procedures
  • Commonly used IR equipment
  • Practical session on AngioMentor® Endovascular Simulator
