Overview

Hysterosalpingogram (HSG) – module

Overview

This course is suitable for AHP’s, nurses and doctors. Whether you are a practising professional needing certification or new to the practice, this course could be for you.  You will be taught by practising HSG professionals who will support you to gain the core skills you need.  You will require a health-based or science degree, an agreed clinical placement and a suitable radiologist/radiographer mentor at your home site.

To evaluate infertility, a comprehensive workup that considers partner-based, hormonal, and structural factors is used. Depending on the population, fallopian tube disorders may be responsible for as much as 60% of infertility cases. According to national guidelines, HSG is a component of a typical fertility assessment.

The primary role of hysterosalpingography is to assess the patency of the fallopian tubes and the structure of the endometrial cavity.

What’s covered in this course

Working alongside practising HSG professionals you will gain the skills necessary to perform HSG yourself.  Anatomical knowledge, clinical and patient care skills will be covered alongside the ability to report the images produced.

One to one teaching, self-study and a comprehensive handbook provide the basis for the knowledge base required.  An anatomical phantom will be used to introduce physical skills before moving on to interaction with patients.
